A nice enough pub. Open plan and comfortable. The bar is central and there are 6 handpumps. A fairly pedestrian selection of ales with Moorhouse Blonde Witch, Hobgoblin, Duechars, Wainwright, Theakstons Bitter and one cider. Its worth a visit.

A large and enjoyable pub, offering seven real ales on my visit this week – there’s a 20p per pint CAMRA discount (which the barmaid, apparently in all seriousness, referred to as the ‘Karma card’). The beers were a split between regional (Hawkshead, Preston, Theakston) and there were a couple of farther-flung ones, such as Slaters and Courage. Prices were around the £2.70-80 mark (pre-discounts). The three ales I sampled were in excellent nick – the Hawkshead stunningly so. There's also a decent selection of whiskies behind the bar. The interior is nothing special - there’s room set aside for dining but the drinkers are well catered for and the split is about 50/50. I noted a dartboard, TV and that the pub has teams in a number of local leagues. Pub is wheelchair accessible and the toilets were in good order. Car parking is available and the place is easily accessible by bus (40/41 Lancaster-Preston, 42 Lancaster-Blackpool). Worth a detour to find this one, well done landlord.
