Roger Button left this review about Rose & Crown
This rambling Country Inn is situated in a fairly rural location albeit on a main road. Unfortunately, at the time of my visit all 3 hand pumps were off and there were signs saying no food available. I got the impression that the place was about to close down for a major refurbishment, thus making most of my observations pretty academic when it comes to a reveiw of the place.
The carpeted interior was divided into 3 sectiions by a few wall remnants and screens and the décor did look a bit tired with lots of cheap pictures as if they had been bulk purchased at a car boot sale. The low ceilings and lattice windows give it a cosy feel but the textured walls and modern fireplaces counteract a lot of its intrinsic charm.
This really was a quick lucky dip stop as we were just driving past and it looked quite enticing but I obviously didn’t find it under a normal set of circumstances. In the event that I should ever pass by again, I see no reason not to pop in again when hopefully everything will be functioning normally and I can offer a more positive and realistic review.
