A very attractive looking country pub as mentioned before with a white weather boarded exterior. Very much food led but still manages to retain a a rustic country pub feel. very busy on a Tuesday lunchtime which bodes well for an out of the way pub, most of course here for the food but a few local drinkers also. Being a Marstons (Breakspear) pub the beer lineup was predictably bland, for my tastes anyway, the four handpulls offered three beers, Brakespear Gravity, Hobgoblin and what is now called "Wainwright The Golden Beer" (a rip off of Anspach and Hobdays beer naming style possibly), which though kept competently had little to enthuse about including the £5.60 price tag.
Nice pub but I won't be back for the beer.

Weatherboarded country pub that is well to the south of Wokingham town centre and seemingly has a good reputation for food, judging by how busy it was on our weekday lunchtime visit.
Almost everybody was there for food, with a full dining room and a full garden to the side of the pub. We saw only one drinker, who was sat at the front of the pub.
As a Marston's pub, the beer range is limited. Brakspear Bitter is the regular ale. Guests were Marston's 61 Deep & Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold. Whilst there were plenty of young staff, service was a bit disorganised and prices are steep.

Completed a walk from here. It was in a nineties guide called Pub Walks in Berkshire. The lanes are now more like motorways and the walking was terrible.
The pub itself was pretty decent. Mainly a restaurant but with a separate pubby bit. The food was high quality pub fodder. Had to send a photo home for vegetable identification purposes. Beers - Ringwood Razorback - was also in good condition.
Good example of a country pub.

Countryside Brakspear house with a white weatherboard exterior and a fairly traditional interior, verging on the woodshack. Formal dining room to rear. Tidy grassed garden with a throne carved from wood. Lots of interesting objects d'art to peruse. Selection of papers. Notably good gents, clean and tidy. Four Marston list ales; Brakspear Bitter, Jennings Cumberland, Marston's Help for Heroes and a good condition Wychwood Gold. Nice place and worth seeking out. 7.5
