Ended-up here as there are two pubs called the Guild in Preston town centre (I mean, what are the chances??) and me being a chump allowed Google to pick the wrong one for me when I punched it into GMap. Imposing red brick building and inside is a Greene King (formerly Hogshead) student barn though not without a little bit of interior charm; I sat in the raised area to the left, awaiting the arrival of Preston's favourite professional alcoholic. Not that old as a pub despite the building’s age, about 30 years since conversion. A surprising five cask available (mainly GK), I went for a pint of GK Fireside – sparklerised, and really rather good (NBSS 3.5). Not as bad as some might lead you to believe.

Large Greene King pub with seating outside. Took ages to get served because two people were haggling about what food they wanted. Seven hand pumps, one not on, one reversed, the rest were weak in strength. Not one to frequent.

A large pub with 2 entrances, one at the side the other at the front. It was pretty empty on my afternoon visit though it looks like it might be popular in the evenings, maybe. Usual Greene King beers today.

A large Greene king pub with beer garden. The interior was open plan, apart from an undressed brick wall housing a large wood burning stove. The pub was understaffed on our visit, so service was slow. The immediate outside entrances were littered and the couple of bins at the main entrance were overflowing with rubbish. You wouldn't mind on a Monday morning, but this was late Tuesday afternoon. Had a quick GK Fireside and made a sharp exit.

Good beer, wine and food. Guest beers. A nice "old pub" feel especially in winter when they have the fire going.
