Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Adelphi

Really stands out with the new blue exterior paintwork, and now with pavement seating out in the extensively remodelled plaza at the front of the university. Refurbished in a semi-modern style inside, and extra seating in the partly covered rear patio garden. No real ale unfortunately, but six craft beers (e.g. Heart & Soul from Vocation, £2.65, half) are available from taps on the bar-back, and several more among the standard keg offerings from the counter founts.

As its by the Uni it can suffer from student tediousness. Its a bit minty but does serve 3 real ales. If you can tolerate the usual student dullness then its an ok pub.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Adelphi

This is a large student pub situated in a prime spot, on the Adelphi Quarter. There were lots of advertisements on boards outside promoting shots and cheap drinks. Thursday night from 8pm is known as quids night were you can get a drink for a £1. A pint of Carlsberg or Strongbow was promoted at £1.25.
The pub consisted of one large room, with a long bar along the back wall. There were various different seating areas and the most noticeable was the six half moon shaped red leather booths towards the middle. Quite a few students taking advantage of the cheap meals on our mid afternoon visit. One ale on handpump Ringwood Young Scrumper.

Has a big student crowd due to its proximity to the Uni and hence has some good offers on drinks. Good selection of beers and handy stop off point on way into town.
