A large building with a mock Tudor frontage belies a sterile interior with a very awkward internal layout. As you enter there’s a long bar and a narrow drinking area. There’s a pool table far right and a much larger, uniform seating area to the left which is presumably for diners but wasn't a soul there. It’s all rather knocked-through with no real charm though the brick-fronted bar was at least unusual. Papers spotted, as was a note advertising a disco. Live sport on the TV. Three ales at the bar; Pride as the safe choice and two local beers in the form of Andwell and Rebellion Smuggler, sadly the Rebellion was under-par though not undrinkable. A saver was that the lass behind the bar was friendly. Overall, it’s too big to be homely and too awkward to be food-led pub.
