Really this is a bog-standard pub, despite attempting to style itself as a semi-eatery (dedicated dining area). A sideways-facing horseshoe shaped bar dominates the interior. Fair decor, carpeted with beech coloured bar fittings. TV showing horse racing and one of the locals provided impressive additional commentary, Peter O’Sullivan crossed with Martin Fitzmaurice. A strong stench of aftershave pervaded and the punters were all blokes. Two pumps face you on entering with only one clipped (Courage Best, cold but in decent shape). Annoyingly a WEBREW was also available but only clipped on the rear two pumps which I only discovered as I took my seat. Poor management and a classic lack of gumption from the barmaid who seemed to spend her entire time on my visit ramming crisp packets into racks - they must have one heck of an appetite in here. Maybe you can only eat them in the dining room?
