Recently reopened following its closure in 2020. As far as I'm aware, this is no longer affiliated with Greene King. First visit so no idea what it was like before, but it has been nicely done out inside. I get the impression their focus is food, but it was certainly popular with drinkers enjoying the sunny canal side terrace on Sunday afternoon. The sign outside boasts cask ales and indeed there are three hand pulls atop the bar, but all unclipped at the time of my visit. Presumably there are plans to bring these into service.

On the day of my visit they did warn us that they would be closing early - 5pm - which was fine by me calling in for a drink but would have been a bit disappointing for someone planning to have an evening meal. Still, they haven't been open long so there are bound to be some initial teething issues.

In the absence of any cask ale, I went for the Camden Stout on keg. I noticed Camden Pale Ale was also available, as well as a selection of lagers etc. Hopefully on a future visit I will find the hand pulls in operation; it's a nice location and some decent ales will bump my rating up!

Large Greene King eatery place. Its a wide, thin pub with 3 areas to sit. The central bar has 4 handpumps serving 4 Greene King rubbish (IPA, the pubs own Gk vinegar that goes by the name Waterside Rope And Anchor, some crappy Radio X nonsense and St Austell Tribute. To the rear of the pub is some canal thingy, which could very well be the source of the beer. Awful.

Just moved 2 leigh area, been in The Waterside for meals few times- always good food, great prices and value.
Bar staff havent a clue on food or drinks lol, but when food comes its good.
Nighttime The waterside is packed with a variety of age groups, plays good up 2 date music and cheesy 80's mixed in, small dance floor but overall friendly atmosphere. Attracts late nighters and single groups in A*

Very disappointing, not your usual Hardy Hansons. The little child who served me couldn't tell the difference between mild or bitter even after topping up my bitter which still was 30% short. I did ask for Old Trip after all, shame the onlooking manager was just as niaive/thick as she was who had to give me my money back. Shame this pub's standards have plummetted since Chris Speight had it. He did have the Governor at Cheadle afterwards. Highly recommended!
Warning! They charge for soda water!
