Reopened on 18 February 2012 and closed again at Easter 2013. Now operating as the Sitting Pretty Vintage Tea Room.
Original review posted 8 March 2011:
I'm really sorry to hear that this pub has closed. It used to serve Yates and Jacksons, the old Lancaster brewery, now long since closed down and their pubs taken over by Thwaites. It was one of the few pubs in the 1970s that still sold Y&J mild. There were no hand pumps, all beers were brought from the stillage in jugs. The landlord had an amazing collection of butterflies and moths in drawers. It was always very quiet, and it was a mystery to me, nearly 40 years ago, how the pub made enough money to stay in business.
