Colin Walker left this review about No. 13 Bonny Street

At time of my July 2023 visit the drinks on draught are Carling, Asahi, Amstel, Peroni, Strongbow, Strongbow Dark Fruits & John Smiths. A couple of odd ones not having heard off, but here they are Easy Livin’ Pale Ale & CLWB Tropicana Tropical IPA both from Tiny Rebel. The colours of the Tiny Rebel ones make it look like is for kids, but they have 3.5% plus alcohol. Ales on the pumps are, The Blonde & Spectrum Bitter from the Cross Bay Brewing Company.

Old Boots left this review about No. 13 Bonny Street

I was recommended this place by a friend who remembered it as the Pump & Truncheon from match going days, it’s opposite the former police station hence that name. After negotiating the nicotine bouncers I entered, a square room with the counter to your left, seating high and low plus a pool table to the right. Three pulls with a choice (?) of Black Sheep Bitter or Cross Bay The Blonde, nowt on middle stump. T-Bars of the usual stuff. The beer scraped a 3 as I don’t do halves :-)). A very woody interior in a golden / honey colour, the light fittings are pineapple inspired, there’s some machines, constant music, a smaller screen. oh how amusing and different, the urinals are old kegs; it’s ok.

Rob Hunter left this review about No. 13 Bonny Street

My first visit today following the rebrand to No. 13 Bonny Street (formerly the Pump & Truncheon). It's had a paint job outside and the inside consists of stripped back wood, bare floor boards and a stone flagged section. It seems to have lost the police theme since its Pump & Truncheon days. There is a real fire, not going at the time of my visit but there was the smell of burnt wood indicating it had been in use recently.

At the bar are four hand pulls (I think reduced from the Pump & Truncheon days) offering Mad Cat Jet Black Stout, Cross Bay Blonde Sunset and Cross Bay Witching Hour, leaving one pump unclipped. My Jet Black Stout set me back £1.80 for a half and was a decent enough beer in decent nick. Service was neither rude nor friendly.

Food is advertised and whereas the Pump & Truncheon just used to do pizzas, No. 13 seems to offer a more comprehensive food menu.

There was a TV on showing Loose Women, thankfully muted, and music was playing. Dog friendly and kid friendly until 7pm. The gents now have urinals made from barrels and although the gents have been refurbished they are not really up to the high standard of the rest of the pub interior.

Will Larter left this review about The Pump & Truncheon

Reliable alehouse-style pub with half a dozen hand pumps. At the time of my recent visit there were four beers on, with hand drawn pump clips. This gave a slightly unprofessional impression, but service was efficient enough, and I remembered to ask for a Camra members discount for once, so got my pint of Little Critters Little Hopper (brewed in Sheffield) for under £3. It was busy here before the match, the ground being only 15 minutes away by foot. Last time I was here it was busy after the match too. Perhaps it's always busy.

Oggwyn Great left this review about The Pump & Truncheon

Friendly pub tucked away off the main drag well described below , pretty busy at 11-30 on a Saturday morning mostly with visiting Shrewsbury fans , Blackpool is probally the only place in the country where 20 people wearing an eye watering selection of hawaian shirts , swimwear and carrying a varied collection of inflatable animals entering a pub doesnt raise an eyebrow .
Several real ales on and a large selection of boxed ciders and perrys , i had a Stout(Snowhill?) for breakfast and a couple of pints of a Cross Bay Omega which was excellent.
A decent pub

A pub tucked away just off the middle pier. 5 real ales on plus 4 ciders. A stone floored place with various plod memorabilia stuff on the walls. Its not too bad.

Pub SignMan left this review about The Pump & Truncheon

Hidden away just off the promenade, behind Madame Tussauds, the Pump and Truncheon is a pleasant, traditional style pub which feels like an oasis of calm from the chaos of the Golden Mile. A single room set up sees you enter into the centre of the pub with the bar running in a curved L shape around the rear left corner. The pub has rough bare floorboards, bare brick walls and dark wood beams and servery, all of which creates a very pubby feel in marked contrast to the many modern bars hereabouts. The left side is dominated by the bar and has space for just a few small tables and a compact darts area. To the right, a flagstone floored space with a nice brick fireplace on the end wall offers banquette and standard seating around the perimeter, whilst a pool table takes centre stage. There is what appears to be a fake pub sign above the fireplace, alongside a whisky bottle and box collection, whilst the walls display all kinds of police themed paintings, photos and badges. Three screens were showing muted Spanish football to no one in particular, allowing a decent indie soundtrack to play over the top. Some shelves on one wall were filled with a collection of books for customer's perusal and there were menus dotted around the place detailing the typical pub grub food options.
The pub has featured in recent editions of the Good Beer Guide and I was pleased to find an interesting ale selection on the handpulls. The options on this visit were Lincoln Green Marion and Sherwood's, Piddle Bursting Out, Clarks Heroes and Arundel Castle. Several bag in a box ciders were also lined up on the end of the bar and the beams around the servery pay testament to the pub's ale policy by displaying lots of previous pump clips. I tried the Marion, which was excellent, and the Bursting Out, which was a real disappointment. The staff were really friendly and the barman made the effort to go round to every customer and check that they didn't want another drink before he rang for time.
I thought this was a real find and an unexpected retreat from the bright lights that surround it. If I'd had two good pints, I would've scored this an 8, but the inconsistent beer quality is a concern, so I'll go with a 7 instead. But having said that, you'll still do very well to find anything as good as this so close to the Promenade.

Dark & moody inside with the slight feel of a pirate ship, it being Blackpool. All done ok & there are 4 real ales, though the quality isn't brilliant.

Quinno _ left this review about The Pump & Truncheon

Having finally managed to get to Blackpool, I was looking to tick as many boxes within two hours as possible (tower, beach, pint, chips etc). The GBG signalled that this was the best pint bet outside of a generic Wetherspoons experience, so me and Mrs Quinno braved the dubious prom backstreets and the P&T loomed into view as we approached the (probably overworked) cop shop.

The exterior is actually relatively attractive, unlike most of its surroundings. The interior, as expected, was festooned in police and law ‘n order paraphernalia – it’s a bit gloomy as it faces away from the sunshine all day. There were six pumps but only three ales were on (presumably all six are on the go during high season?). Acorn White Oak, Copper Dragon Fred Trueman and Sheps Canterbury Jack were available. My Acorn was good, the Fred Trueman a little tired but drinkable. Food was available and my cheesy chips were pretty good for £2. The barmaid was friendly and the regulars were a fairly mixed bunch.

If you’re in Blackpool and want a decent pint, you could do a lot worse based on this visit.
