Certainly this is a much better proposition than it was in the dog days of the mid 2000’s. Popped by again the other day, good to see a few punters in enjoying the early spring sunshine in the rear garden. Bar billiards, darts and pool all spotted. The interior needs a lick of paint and a lighter shade as it’s quite dim inside, even when the sun’s out. The ales on - Bombardier, a fair Courage Best and a house brew of unknown provenance. Friendly service. While the emergence of the Goodies elsewhere in Woodley has taken the plaudits (and rightly so), it’s worth having a look in here too.

Attractive pub with thatched roof and a large, encompassing semi-circular bar. Was poorly run up until fairly recently (very dodgy punters, feral kids, dirty, damp, appalling beer). New licensees seem to be making a decent fist of turning things round. Beer is a bit better and the atmosphere has improved immeasurably. I personally think the place has bags of potential, fingers crossed that the upward trend continues.
