Recently gutted and completely refurbished in the style of modern Oriental chintz (see the Moderation and Bali Lounge in Reading - same guy). Will certainly divide opinion. Three ales on, doesn't always have a local ale but they pop up regularly. Quality can vary from the sublime to the naff (seems to depend on whether a certain member of staff has been on duty). There's now a beer wall in the converted stable out the back. Seems to be doing well overall.

UPDATE - now offering three Loddon ales alongside two Thatchers ciders. Ale quality is fairly good and the Hoppit is under £3 p/p. Front bar nicely refurbished. One to watch...

Used to be a middling but pleasant local under Jean's stewardship, which also welcomed the students from the nearby Uni (she employed half of them as bar staff). Now moved a bit more upmarket under new ownership since Jean's retirement. Food is offered and there's real ale whose availability is intermittent. Interior is a traditional two-bar layout and suffers from being out of direct sunlight for the entire trading day.
