The other Sandwich GBG entry. A Thorley Taverns house so a nice laid back faux-traditional place; staple shaped interior with varnished wood, exposed brick, wood panelling and nu-skool pub carpet. More of a hubbub than the Red Cow. Horse racing on the box with a few old boys passing comment. A tasty Gadds Seasider (NBSS 3.5) was my tipple with 2x Sharps as the other choices. 7.5

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The New Inn
Fine-looking pub / restaurant, and of course the interior looks nothing like what the name would suggest. As you would expect from a Thorley Taverns establishment, the staple-shaped layout has a thoroughly traditional look, with elements of wood panelling and exposed brickwork around the central bar counter. With three of the four handpumps in use, I found Doom Bar, Ghost Ship and the local Gadds Seasider (£3.75) being poured.

The New Inn is a good looking Pub and five roomed bed and breakfast establishment in the centre of Sandwich. Very traditional one room interior around a central serving area with half height wood panelling and traditional style carpet throughout, plenty of period photos dotted about, then tables and chairs around the edges and stools up the bar.
The usual standard keg lager and Guinness draft offerings dominate here and although there are four ale handpumps on one section of the bar only two were in operation for my visit with Courage Best and a just about passable Sharps Cornish Coaster.
Although we didn’t try it there looked to be a good traditional food menu and this one opens at 10.00am for breakfast ( presumably when they have stopped serving the staying guests) and when we walked past at this time there seemed a few in occupying the bar stools for a liquid breakfast.
I know one evening visit is not all to go on but the New Inn seemed to attract quite a mature clientele and although I fit that description for most nowadays it was a bit too mature even for me. I am sure this is a fine pub and it does score highly on trip advisor for its pub food and B&B accommodation, but I did not warm to this one as much as other establishments in Sandwich.
