A splendid looking Dickensian style corner pub, which looked quite out of place in such a run down part of town. Once through the corner entrance, you walk into the lounge area with boarded floors and an open fire at the far end. The mid section had a small oak bar and a blackboard on the opposite wall with a choice of two cask beers and eight craft keg, which at weekends has a few more options. Our cask choice was Gadds She Sells Sea Shells and Dark Star Green Hop, so went for the two of them. The young barman also gave out a couple of samples from the keg range, which were excellent beers, but as expected served too cold. Beyond the bar was a further room with a bank of coolers displaying a comprehensive choice of bottled and canned beers. I found this pub to have a good laidback atmosphere and the beer quality to be top notch.
