The Clarendon Royal Community is now an assisted living building for over 55s, I’m not quite there yet. Located to the left of the entrance is a long and thin bar with standard and high tables on wood flooring across the front windows opposite the long tile edged serving counter where standard and premium keg products are available alongside Beavertown’s Gamma Ray. I went for half a Fosters that came in at a whopping £3 for a half, which explained why there was only one other customer who I think was a resident. At the end of the counter is a ramp up to a small carpeted dining area, and there’s a television at either end of the room, one was off and one was airing muted Channel 5 afternoon TV while some background music played. Whilst this place has a somewhat captive audience for regular trade the price mean that no locals are going to be popping in for a pint.
