Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Red Lion
Attractive village pub with a partly opened-out L-shaped interior created from three original rooms. Very traditional inside the various seating / dining areas, with a pleasant part-patio / part-grassed beer garden at the back. With two of four handpumps in use, I found Gadds No 7 (£3.60, and in good shape) and Level Best from Rother Valley on offer.

We were selling plants at Badlesmere’s Medieval Fair on one of the few hot days of this summer, and I fancied a pint. The landlady of this pub had set up a beer tent at the fair, but the sun was shining in on the ale. I’ve often driven past this pub but had never been in. A traditional roadside brick and tile building, entered through a slightly modern looking porch on the side. Inside, exposed beams, a large fireplace and what looks like a stretch of antique pavement by the front window.
A comfortable atmosphere prevails: tables, some laid up for dining, a few comfy chairs and a gaggle of stools round the bar. Outside, a large garden, space for camping, an impressive copper beech. The Red Lion has a good reputation locally for live music: a somewhat anachronistically modern local celebrity was performing at the fair and would be live at the pub that night.
Unusually for this part of Kent, Shep’s beers were surprisingly absent : instead I had a pint of Old Dairy’s Red Top, followed by Captain Bob from Mighty Oak. Both in great form. There were a couple of other cask beers, together with more fizzy fare.
I rather liked this pub, and will probably come again.
