. Wittenden left this review about The Fountain
An attractive brick and tile-hung building perched above a lane corner in an isolated West Kent village. Approaching up steps through flowerbeds, one finds a traditionally furnished L-shaped public bar, complete with well used dartboard and open fire. The servery opens onto both legs of the L,equipped with three handpumps, together with associated keg founts.Behind the fireplace is an airy oak framed dining room, opening onto a newly built conservatory. Beyond this,an unvisited but spacious garden.
On our lunchtime visit on a blustery February Saturday we found a few other drinkers and their dogs. Despite the low apparent footfall, the beer was in tiptop form:the ubiquitous Sussex Best and IPA, both from Harvey's of Lewes, the pub being one of a limited number of Harvey's tied houses in Kent.Unfortunately for me, Harvey's Old Ale was unavailable.
The food was fine, the welcome warm. A cracking village pub.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Fountain
Proper village pub - blazing log fire on a cold winter morning, nibbles on the bar at Sunday lunchtime, interesting menu and a decent pint of beer (with a choice of three Harveys ales) - what more could you want?
