E TA left this review about The Eagle Inn
A large mid-Victorian building, this pub was built on the site of an earlier inn, The Black Horse, in around 1840 and first licensed in 1843. It was also known as the Denmark Arms and Irish Times. The two upper storeys were added some time later. It now sits on a busy road junction where public hangings used to be carried out. Of interest are the two golden eagles on the roof. Originally a grand hotel, it is now a run-down single corner bar with wooden floors, occasional karaoke and a thick rotweiler for a pub dog. Only one ale on - Henry's IPA which was OK but nothing special. They have a lively local following, mostly the younger generation, for whom they run happy hours, coffee mornings and free jukebox evenings. OK to drop in when passing but I'm not sure I'd make a night of it.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Eagle Inn
Tired pub, which has seen better days (which could also be said of Dover, or the real ale on offer...). Shame.
