E TA left this review about Trafalgar Maid

This utterly charmless 1960s drinking hole is named in honour of the many woman who served in Nelson's fleet as powder monkeys and in other dangerous jobs normally done by boys. It consists of an L-shaped bar with a sticky carpet and no real ale. It looks tatty and derelict from the outside, and has the appearance of being closed - only the presence of a gang of loud smokers blocking the door indicates that it is actually open, a useful indicator as it regularly fails to adhere to its published opening times. There is a pool table which doubles as a drinks table. The staff were ok but the clientele were mostly boozed-up, belligerent boors. Don't bother, and if you do, don't make eye contact.
