A Victorian roadside inn whose ground floor has been knocked through to form a single bar. There is a tight car park to one side of the building, and there are a few shabby seats at the front for smokers to watch the cars whizz past. There is a bit of an exclusive local feel to it, not that welcoming. The bar feels very sterile, the mute TV screens are a bit spooky and the locals murmur ominously. One ale, Upham Punter, and Titcombe cider on draft. The beer was in decent condition and reasonably refreshing. The food was drastically over-priced (almost £14 for fish and chips), not justified by the location or quality. I wouldn’t eat here, but I might stop for a quick pint to break a journey

A multi area'd place, with a restaurant to the left, more dining to the right with a small, traditional bar area in middle. Not much to write home about décor-wise, felt a bit plain. Items noted included a TV, papers and some bank notes of the world tin-tacked to the bar. Two ales, Upham Punter and Ramsbury Gold (so-so). Stupidly expensive even for this area of Berkshire, well-over four quid for a half and a small lemonade. I didn’t feel any affinity for this one at all, sadly.
