An old attractive coaching inn on the market square, half in white render, half in stone slabs with all woodwork painted dark green. Internally it’s a collection of different areas that radiate off the main serving area that is actually in two halves either side of a short central archway. Each section houses two hand pumps but the two in the front section as you enter are badged with the not very inspiring Doombar and TT Landlord and you could easily miss that there are (well for my visit at least) more interesting options on the back section. For my visit these were the local Fuggle De Dum from Goddards and Seadog from Yates, the latter being in fine form. The collection of beermats on the walls of the rear bar section were initially quite impressive, until you realise that it is actually wallpaper. But at least it does show a focus on ale rather than food in this section at least. And although there is the brighter more modern area to the left specifically aligned to dining there were plenty of areas just for a beer and I particularly liked the wooden floored, wood panelled area that housed the toilets that retained a lot of character.

Revisit June 2023
Refurbished as described below in a slightly nautical sort of theme, with lots of light wood and assorted bric-a-brac. The ale list at time of visit was TT Boltmaker, Goddards Fuggle-de-dum, Doom Bar and a house beer Coachman, apparently brewed by Yates.

Large former coaching inn in main square, refurbished with distinct pub and restaurant sides. Seemed pretty good and certainly popular enough.

A pleasant former coaching inn offering good food and decent beer. It still offers B&B and has free WiFi and occasionally hosts live music acts. The interior is well described by Soupy, below. There were 4 ales and a cider on. The beers weren't exciting – Brakspears, Landlord, Bass and Doombar – but they were well kept and rather enjoyable. The staff were pleasant, the clientele mature and civilised, mostly yachties plus a couple of locals and some CAMRA types. One of the better pubs in Yarmouth, worth a visit and I would definitely include in a crawl.

This really is a composite kind of pub, restaurant and hotel complex, covering three buildings it seems, with the hotel area being in stone, and the other parts in brick, white render and black paintwork, with a patio area at the rear.
The interior seemed equally composite, whilst I suppose being generally open plan around a central wood bar, it had several different areas for food, or for individual preference. There was a dining area in cream, a conservatory with bits of greenery, a traditional wood panel area (where we sat), a pool table area, a sofa bit and a small wood panel ante room by the one entrance. The traditional area had a plethora of bottles, brass, barrels and a wooden model tram, but elsewhere there were photos and old metal signs and advertisements. There was Sky TV, no music, lots of holidaymakers and the service was OK.
Beer; tap stuff, with Timothy Taylor Landlord, Flowers Original, GK IPA, Abbots and an OK Ringwood 49er on handpull.
The beer choice was good, but it was very expensive. I just found the place a little impersonal and to be honest, I would rather go to the Kings Head.
