A white painted brick cottage style Fullers pub with extension, terraced by houses on on side, with a nice beer garden. In the GBG 2010 and awarded the Dining Pub of the Year by Island Life Magazine.
The interior was one room that went into an L shape around the bar. The decor is white wood panel with a brick and stone fireplaces and supporting wood beams. The room has a dining area, though i didnt eat. The pub is covered in a variety of ephemera; mainly jugs, beer glasses/mugs, bottles, brass, real ale beer mats, but there are photos, prints and trophies, as well as the odd pitchfork and two handed saw! Service was very good, the clientele varied and the music was of a decent level, supplied by the radio.
Beer; tap stuff, with the untried Fullers London Pride and Bengal Lancer and a very good Gales HSB.
A class place, clearly worthy of the GBG status and worth a visit for anyone
