Strongers . left this review about The Chequers Hotel

The Chequers Inn is primarily a hotel, with rooms upstairs and out the back where there’s a substantial car park. The bar area is found across the front of the building to the left of the revolving door entrance and is access via the central hotel reception. I found this bar area to be more functional than inviting and the draught options of Madri, Staropramen, Coors, Worthington’s Creamflow, Guinness and Stowford Press cider didn’t have me jumping for joy. Seating runs under the front windows opposite the serving counter and a few more tables are found to the left. There was some background music playing while a daytime quiz was in progress with sound on the TV hanging from right-hand wall. There are other seating areas in this parge building, including a lounge area to the right of the entrance and The Smokehouse restaurant to the left that has it’s own frontage onto the passing road. I was surprised that the bar doesn’t have its own door but the restaurant does. I wasn’t surprised to find myself as the only customer and if I ever stay here again I’ll not be popping back into the bar.

Hotel bar, confusingly located dog-legged to the left of reception. Single oblong room broken in two by some wood shelving. A safe MoR interior that looks fairly recent. Intermittently staffed bar with two kegs of minor interest, Shed Head and Brooklyn Defender, a half of which clocked in at a surprisingly reasonable £2.10. A few people in Friday lunchtime. I've been in much worse examples of the genre and there are certainly places nearby I’d take this one over.

Old Boots left this review about Chequers Hotel

Front bar of a swish hotel, to the right as you enter the front door. A fairly standard hotel bar set up, a counter down one side, low tables with chairs but in a quite small space. No ale although there are two unused pumps on the counter, otherwise just a boring keg range.
Probably adequete for hotel guests who don't wish to go out and enjoy the pubs.
