Peter Forster left this review about Crown Hotel
The Crown is a Victorian Hotel that sits proudly in the very centre of Ryde where Union Street meets the High Street. It underwent an extensive renovation in the late 1980s knocking rooms together and installing a large circular bar. It hasn’t changed much since then. This is arguably a younger person’s and lager drinker’s place but a concession is made in the form of Wainwright Gold. (£2.40 for half a pint). This is a little over sweet but okay (NBSS 2.5). To the back of the pub a pool table is permanently occupied, piped music dominates and multiple television screens are showing sports stuff. The barmaid was not great as she spent most of her time on her mobile phone even when serving. The Crown is a historic stalwart of Ryde. Throughout the 1980s it was one of the places my crowd used to go. I’m too old for it now but will still pop in when in town for old time’s sake. I hope that it survives.

large town centre establishment which felt more of a pub than an hotel, although it still offers accommodation, with different drinking areas arranged round an island bar and a pool room upstairs. Only draught ales on offer were Doom Bar and London Pride. Nothing especially wrong with the place, but it somehow lacked something.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Crown Hotel
Quite an impressive twin bow-fronted façade (albeit mostly hidden behind scaffolding at the time of visit). 'U'-shaped bar with a dining room in lower building to one side and a sports TV room to the rear. Some benches on front terrace a rear patio beer garden. Just Greene King IPA (£3.60) from the pair of handpumps, with a reversed London Pride clip also visible.
