Quinno _ left this review about The Waggon & Horses
After a number of aborted attempts, we finally found the place open. Not what you’d expect from the outside, it’s a large two bar, two-roomed pub with access to both via a wide side corridor (wide enough for a pool table!) which is actually just a covered over passageway. The front bar had pointlessly loud and thudding dance music whilst the rear had the 6 Nations on a single TV. It all felt desperately tired despite a recent lick of paint. Well less ‘lick’ and more ‘splodge’, looked like Stevie Wonder was in charge of the brush and pot – there was more paint on the window panes than the frames. Grassed rear garden (too dark to explore). Two ales, a lacklustre Morlands Original and GK IPA. This really feels like a dying pub and I’d be surprised to see it open in 24 months unless there are some major improvements. Perhaps the Wednesday quiz jackpot question should be “what do you do with this place to actually make it worthwhile?”
