Will Larter left this review about The Bell Inn
A former coaching in on the high street, with wooden beams and pillars, though I question how many are original, or in their original positions. One long room with bar facing on entry, with another room behind and a courtyard to the rear. Dominated by TV screens and with furniture on its way to earning the adjective "distressed", this is an example of how difficult it is to make buildings like this pay as pubs since the demise of the stage coach route. The young man behind the bar had more confidence than the level of his training could justify, and the beer was not as well kept or served as at the Anchor.
The bar, which sits on a tiled area of the otherwise wooden floor, is a handsome affair in dark wood with those all-important hooks for your jacket or handbag. The four hand pumps featured a range of local Tring Brewery product, and although my Side Pocket was ok, it did not pull up any trees. The others were Ridgeway, Albatross and Moongazing. Maybe I'm being picky, but I'd rather see two beers in top condition than four just so-so.
