Tied to Greene king, some money has been spent on the timber framed interior of what was originally two buildings, now knocked together. To the right of the entrance there is a high ceiling with beams with an unused fireplace.Turn left and the ceiling height drops dramatically, with a large central chimney breast, opposite which is the bar,and behind which is a seating area dominated by diners, from a very corporate GK pub grub menu. The overall look is pleasing but it doesn't feel like a pub for a long session, despite the bar offering 4 handpumps serving on my trip GK IPA,Uncle Sam ,Rockin' Rudolph with a guest of Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted (tired).Craft beer is advertised but from bottles, the four wall mounted taps were offering mainstream tosh keg.
The decor is rather too corporate,it was popular with diners and is the sort of place for book club ladies to titter over a glass of wine, but I felt there were better pubs nearby for my purposes.
