Bucking Fastard left this review about The Rose & Crown

Reopened after a very long closure, this is now a free house and is used primarily as a boozer by the village community. The left hand front door gives access to the tap room which has brick fireplaces housing wood burners at each end of the room. With quarry tiled floor to the left and floor boards to the right it was clearly two rooms at some stage, opened out with the gnarled supporting wooden posts nicely exposed. The ceiling is low ,the furniture is mixed with a long bench to the left,a rocking chair, uprights and a worn sofa to the right .The two bay windows let in a lot of light.
There is a monthly quiz,Sunday roasts,a book club so the owners are trying to get a community feel to the pub and are succeeding.
Two handpumps on my visit but on ordering the Tring Squadron Scramble was obviously off and the clip immediately reversed leaving just Sharps Twin Coast ,a dull brew but acceptable,NBSs 3.
A more exciting ale range would have led to a higher score,it's a friendly locals pub which hopefully will survive.
