A building with an unusual history, apparently built as a private station on a proposed rail line that would take Victoria and Albert to Ascot races. Whilst the building was constructed, the line was never completed due to Albert’s death. It’s now a heavily modernized pub, with wood flooring and lots of exposed brick including what looks like a hollowed-out inglenook fireplace. Three ale pumps dispensing Pride, Rebellion IPA and W&E Garter (decent shape). Treated to the unusual sight on approach of a massively inebriated local trying to ‘swim’ (his words) through the foliage outside. The barman appeared completely unconcerned (or incapable) as said local started to obliterate the plant life through various physical exertions over the following ten minutes. If that’s the standard of tolerated behaviour here on a Sunday evening, I’d advise a pass.
