Reading other reviews, there must be much more to this pub than I originally realised. We entered from the car park at the rear to find a fairly small front bar and a slightly raised dining area to the rear. If indeed there are more rooms, I missed them. Nevertheless, it was fairly dead on our Sunday evening visit with just two elderly women, their dog and a barman trying to get a real fire going in the large inglenook fireplace.
At the bar, there are 3 handpulls. However, with a Boltmaker clip turned round, the only beer was Landlord. Neck Oil was available on keg. The cider was Inch's.
With a nice stone tile floor and a few Christmas decorations, it initially seemed like quite a nice drinking environment. However, the excessively loud music combined with far too much smoke emanating from the fire soon got us drinking up and heading across the road to the Green Man.

Under new management, my daughter is now the landlady so it will be a good pub to visit

The quieter of the three pubs in the Sandridge triangle with just a few diners in on a weekday lunchtime. Much better looking inside than out with pleasant décor and a cared for feel about it. There are a number of different rooms and the main bar has a massive Inglenook fireplace. Small beer garden with a gazebo offering some shade. The beer was a bit uninspiring, Old Speckled Hen and Pride. The pub cat and pub dog were wandering around the main bar in contented harmony.
