Lovely old pub with low ceilings and nice outside space.Breath of fresh air after the bland pubs i had drank in today.Greene King pub but they had Neptune -shifting sands which was good.Busy and friendly pub

Little has changed here from the last review. As a Greene King pub, the Coach & Horses had their IPA & Abbot on. But it also had 3 guests - Tring Side Pocket For A Toad, Big Smoke Solaris & Rooster's Capability Brown.
The interior was a little on the dark side. But service was friendly and they did at least open at the published time of 11:30. Just on the edge of the town centre, this was better than I had expected.

A charming old building owned by Greene King with two distinct rooms off the front door. The best is to the left, with a low ceiling, traditional furniture,a real fireplace and ,at the rear,a raised seating gallery. There is much exposed brickwork, impressive roof beams and it's a comfortable place to drink.Beyond this room at the rear is a discrete airconditioned dining room ,all tables laid out but it's not huge and although food is served until 10pm every night, dining does not dominate due to this careful seperation of areas. To the right of the entrance is a smaller bar room with a wooden floor and standard wooden furniture with it's own access to a double sided bar.
As a GK house there was their IPA and Abbott on offer but also 3 guests in Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted (decent nick £4.10),Camerons A-Hop-Alypse Now and Wadworth Boundary a decent selection for Ricky, never a town I associate with outstanding ale.
There is a lot of outside drinking options with a pleasant courtyard to the front,a large rear terrace with two jumberellas with space heaters and an artificial grass area with a mix of benches and wicker sofas and arm chairs.Serious money has been spent here and the overall affect is quite charming.Worth a look around when in town, better than the GK signage may lead you to believe.

Two-bar Green King pub that has a good reputation for it’s beer. Also popular for food and can get busy at the weekend. Nice floral arrangement outside.
