Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Plough
The Plough is a really small village pub. A fireplace splits what is an already small room into two. There are TVs both sides of the fireplace. Board games were piled up in one side of the fireplace, whilst there were flowers in the other side, which I suspect are removed in the winter when the pub requires heat. There is also a dartboard on the right-hand side. Dogs are allowed in and it was quite a challenge getting to and from the bar around them. Music was playing during my visit.
This Good Beer Guide pub has 4 handpulls. On my Thursday afternoon visit, 2 were clipped with Buntingford Highland Cow Cottage & Church End What The Fox's Hat. There was no real cider. Keg ciders are Stowford Press & Inch's.
I initially ordered the Buntingford beer but it was almost undrinkable and I had to return it to the young barman. It then became apparent that a guy at the corner of the bar was the landlord. He asked the barman to exchange it for the Church End. This was in much better condition and ended up being my favourite beer of the day. We had an interesting chat about the real ales he ordered and the most popular breweries he orders from.
There are a few picnic tables to the front and apparently there is a garden to the rear. The village car park is on the opposite side of the road a little further down the road.
I suspect the original beer had not been pulled through properly. Despite this, I did quite like this pub. It is clearly quite popular amongst villagers and stocks some interesting beers. Just about my favourite pub of a fairly average bunch in Hertfordshire.
