A facelifted old pub with the interior a bit dominated by light wood, but with a good community atmosphere. It didn't take long until I was treated like one of the regulars, who were a cheery bunch and, while not always in favour of such things, the free juke box was being put to good use with some classic tracks. MacMullen's ales on were AK and the autumn seasonal Scarlett, which was in such good form I felt obliged to have another. A proper locals' pub

ORIGINAL REVIEW Feb 2010.
A Mc Mullens community pub which does make an effort to put on live entertainment at the weekend.Traditional wood pannelled interior with an open plan layout,a relief from the trendy bars in the area. However the pub is badly let down by the ale quality,my Country bitter had a nasty tang despite being clear and the AK was dull as always. When will Macs learn ?
UPDATE
A refurb has been done with lots of pine, but the interior layout and ethos of the pub remains.Usually the 4 handpumps are all clipped with AK,but on my Xmas crawl visit there was also Macs Bootwarmer.Friendly welcome from behind the bar helps, but we pushed off as soon as the band started setting up.

Unspectacular but solid enough community pub which puts on live music acts every Saturday. Internally one fairly basic wood floored area supporting a couple of Plazma TV’s and a pull down screen for the sporting occasions. Another of the McMullen houses in town, so beer choice is usually limited to AK and the current seasonal brew from McMullens.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Lord Haig
Fairly basic pub with a traditional interior, located about half-way between Hertford East railway station and the town centre. Three handpumps, with one off and the other two dispensing AK (which was OK, and fairly cheap at £2.60). The barman was friendly enough, and the other customers didn't seem too fussed about having a stranger drop by.

I thought that the governor in here was very friendly and the locals were great with a small group jamming on there guitars in the corner and a dart match was going on meaning that the jukebox was redundant. Sky sports is advertised and I spotted a TV and projector which was good to see for this side of town.
Unsurprisingly for the area only AK and Country were available alongside a standard draught selection, but my Guinness was well served.
I liked it in here and would choose this place over its peers.
