A pleasant little pub with two rooms, one either side of a chimney with fireplaces, although they join back together again at the bar. Nicely aged, with tiled floor, curtains and bits of polished brass, and a good outdoor drinking area with shelters in the yard behind. It could do with some better beers, with just GK IPA and an indifferent Old Speckled Hen on, but otherwise a nice little pub.

A proper old school boozer, tied to Greene King. The entrance door gives way to other doors, left to lounge, right to public bar. These two rooms join at bar which runs along the rear wall. Most regulars gather in the lounge with it's traditional furniture but with a distinct old man smell, think of the name and a lack of hygiene.
The public bar has an illuminated darts board,a sports flatscreen and more traditional furniture.Food is served but wasn't featuring on my late afternoon visit.
It's a drinking den and the Xmas hours tell a tale, open until 2am on Xmas Eve,and 3am on New Years Eve.However clearly ale quality is high and throughput serious with on my trip ale options of GK IPA , Abbot (well kept) and Old Speckled Hen with a single guest in York Snowflake (NBSS 3.5).I had to think twice before ordering this ,there was some mirth among the regulars.
A pub to get well oiled in ,full of character and characters but possibly not for the faint hearted.

Small, traditional 2 roomed pub with yard to the side in nice town. Wooden floors, beams, dark, typical old style pub chairs & tables, unspoilt and relaxing. Light poppy jazz in the background.
4 real ales.

The Cock is a good looking red brick 17th century Inn tucked away on the Tree lined Baldock High Street. Internally it retains the traditional beamed pub interior with split level drinking areas and an open log fire.. Then outback there is a very pleasant enclosed outside drinking area with wooden seating.
Another of the Green King empire, but as well as having IPA and Abbott as permanent ales, other changing beers from the GK stable (XX Mild for my visit) as well as two true guest beers are available.
These were two from the Moorhouse brewery being Witchfinder General and Black Cat Mild, and the Black Cat was a well kept pint.
Found this to be a very pleasant comfortable pub with well kept ales.
