This turned out to be an absolutely buzzing community local, though there would be considerably more space for us drinkers if more than half of the internal space wasn't given over to diners (who, to be fair, do seem to have their reservations placed on most of the tables). On a warm evening, a fair few were in the garden.

While the Greene King signage remains outside, none of their ales remain inside - The Roebuck is now run by locally-based The Little Pub Company, though don't be too fooled by the websites promise of local ales, given Landlord's position as one of the 3 ales, alongside Good Old Boy best bitter and New Forest IPA from Flack's (I didn't realise they were still going).

Given the uphill trek from the town centre, you're unlikely to simply passing by, but the local population have a pretty good pub on their doorsteps.

Greene King local with upmarket aspirations – warm Farrow & Ball shades, posh fabric banquettes, that sort of thing. L-shaped inside mainly due to the attractive rear extension which has plenty of large windows facing unobstructed daylight, the pub being situated halfway up a hill. Four pumps all dispensing GK beers; OSH, house rebadge, IPA Gold and a fair Olde Trip. Friendly barmaid/landlady and a welcoming atmosphere make this one worth a look if you can stomach GK beers. 6.5
