Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Heroes
1960s pub (although it looks older), once on the original A3 alignment (which now bypasses the town's dreadful shopping precinct), that now seems to be as close to a heritage building as you can find in these parts. Seemingly unspoiled twin-bar interior, featuring a busy lounge and a sports area (with pool table, etc.) on each side of a island servery and a separate seating area and clear space at the back for the regular live music. This still seems to be a Fuller's pub, although not obviously branded as such, and the four handpumps were dispensing London Pride, Seafarers, ESB and an excellent HSB (a real bargain at just £2.50).

Friendly locals pub next door to the Wetherspoons pub.A large central bar serves all areas of the pub, I drank in the lounge bar area which at the time of my morning visit seemed to be the most populated.A Fullers pub with three of there range on plus a guest that I now fail to remember,I tried a Chiswick which was as good as I can remember it being and at £2.00 a pint a bargain, I only had a half and before purchasing the barmaid kindly pointed out that a half works out more expensive being £1.25, still cheap compared to my neck of the woods.Quite liked this pub and would call in again if nearby.

Just an update, it is now what I would term my "local", I got fed up hanging around in Wetherspoon's while others ordered coffee plus this that & the other
So I gave the Heroes another chance, and find I really like it, a few regulars, old gits like me mainly, sort of local friendly atmosphere, I only use it early lunch times, so cannot comment on evenings, but from hearsay it is rammed at times with live music

Visit was AM weekday in August
I have used this pub, off & on, for over thirty years, during that time it has waxed & wained from a destination, must visit Gales pub, to a boozer offering £2.00 a pint weekdays up to 5PM. The very close proximity of the Denmead Queen [JDW] I assume has impacted on trade
The bars have been knocked into one large circular O shaped effort, with the bar serving areas in centre of the circle
Bar is in front of you as you enter, choose left or right, right seems to be most folks choice, none of it is "plush", more on functional side
4 draught beers available on my visit, all Fuller's standard offerings, my HSB was fine
There is pool table, Sky TV, smoking area, dining area and a car park, plus [pay] car park adjacent, if parking, make sure you get a "day pass" from behind bar, or you will get a Penalty Charge Notice of £60, this is because of shoppers using car park but not pub
Not one for me, even at £2.0 a pint, nothing really wrong but if in area I would go next door, your call of course
