A huge rambling foody place dating - apparently - from the 14th century. Basic layout is a characterful room to the left, a small central bar with bay window, then through a corridor and up a step to the main dining area. Lots of low beams and tight corridors inside, dunno how original but convincing at a glance. Cosy if obviously modern touches. Courteous staff who were apologetic when we sat on a table that was seconds away from having a reserved sign placed upon it, they directed us to an unreserved seat with a smile. Must be doing something right in here as it was very busy. Two ales on, a house beer of unknown provenance and Deuchars IPA (good nick). Nice outside seating area also. Hardly in the same league for a pub experience as the Jack or Victoria but decent enough.
