Good photos Michael! The Bat and Ball is a 17th Century cosy nook pub set in the heart of the Hampshire countryside in a location famous as the birthplace of English cricket - Broadhalfpenny Down. Fine real ales compliment the impressive bar menu, and a seperate restaurant offers a more formal setting.
If you like your authentic county pubs with good food I recommend it. For cricket fans eager to experience a bit of history it's a must.
Update: recent refurbished dining area further improved this unique establishment.

Agree, I was there only a few weeks ago and took this picture
The granite on the left of frame is part of the cricket memorial.
The inscription reads
"This stone marks the site of the ground of the Hambledon Cricket Club circ 1750 - 1787"
April 2009, update. Went for lunch there today, excellent food and prices, highly recommended
