A terraced pub in a mix of styles, with a lower half of brick and salt glazed tiling and an upper half in timber frame and white render in Jacobean style. It also has a beer garden. The pub is also a music venue and does food.
The interior has three rooms. A small beamed side room, in wood panel and had lots of Victorian pictures and posters, including Little Titch, as well as ephemera like jugs and things. There was a pool room, in white and then there was the main room bending around the bar, with a black stage area and food serving hatch, which was in white with a wood bar, a few decorative barrels and stoneware cider jugs. There was a wood floor. The service was fine, the clientele consisted of a few regulars and the music was a decent level – Neil Diamond and such like.
Beer; tap stuff, with one handpull, a nice Irving Brewery’s Red Plum
I visited the pub last year and wanted to go back to review it and I wasn’t disappointed.

The Old Vic is a decent looking pub that is fairly close to Portsmouth university but the pub is'nt in Portsmouth but the seperate town of southsea which is very confusing to a visitor of this area.
Once inside there was one largish room that was carpeted and quite comfortable, there was also a seperate pool room to the rear of the pub.
When we visited this pub it was a Whitbread tied house and there were two real ales on the bar we had a drink of Brains bitter and this was quite a nice drink the other beer was Whitbread Flowers bitter.
This was a decent enough pub to have a few drinks in.
