This is a flat roof, estate pub which has been given a good makeover and won various CAMRA awards in recent years. The estate is a fair way out of Bracknell, but easily reached from Martins Heron station. It's a large, two bar pub, although the entire left-hand bar was closed on this visit, so I couldn't explore. The right-hand bar comprises a spacious, bare boarded room with low tongue and groove panelling and plain painted uppers, plus a wooden ceiling. The servery is to the left and has a counter that matches the height and colour of the aforementioned wall panels, with a matching canopy painted white and adorned with a large TV screen showing muted cricket, whilst the bar back has a simple, mirrored set up, decorated with various stupid beer themed slogan signs. Lots of tables and chairs, plus the occassional padded bench, fill the room, with many of the chairs painted in bright colours, whilst an upturned keg with a table top stands in the centre. The walls have been decorated with colourful art work, posters for upcoming events including a beer festival, and another TV screen showing live Olympics coverage with the sound just about audible but music playing over the top. There is a dartboard near a side entrance too and the place had a good community feel, with every customer greeted by name by the staff on arrival.
On the bar, a decent cask selection comprised Otter Ale, Woodforde Wherry and Adnams Ghost Ship (£5.00 a pint). I was served by a cheery barman and the beer was in great nick and didn't last long in the glass, which was a shame, as I was very happily settled down in this pub. The landlord also popped over at one point to say hello and check that everything was okay, which is always a nice touch.
I really enjoyed my visit here and thought this was an excellent example of an estate pub creating an inclusive environment for a wide range of locals and not just for middle aged blokes. There's some decent ale in good condition and the welcome was very friendly, making this a very pleasant place to spend a bit of time and a great asset for the local community.

A two-bar estate pub that really needs TLC. No ales so pressed on. Pinball machine spotted.
