The Meon, Milton, Southsea

A small Victorian corner pub and a fairly decent local. The ground floor rooms have been knocked through into a single U-shaped bar. Etched windows, stained-glass panels above the counter, modern wooden flooring and fairly battered furniture complete the picture. There are lots of Portsmouth Football Club memorabilia dotted around the walls and ceiling, and much of the conversation was football-oriented. There are multiple TV screens, a pool table dominating one side of the bar, dartboard and some gaming machines. Staff and locals were friendly, but I found the jukebox much too loud and rather annoying. Two ales on draft, Abbot and Doombar, neither brilliant but both drinkable. I'd be happy to pop in for a swift one of in the area.
