Great Pub with excellent range of well kept ales, good atmosphere with friendly staff. Listed in the good beer guide and recently won an award for its ales.

In 1970/1 I was one of the 12 students in a house share at number 37 next door, and we spent a great deal of time in The Barley Mow.

The Barley Mow is a a corner pub that looks a bit different as the side of the pub is single storey and the rest of the pub is two storeys high, the pub looked quite nice outside with plenty of flower baskets on the window sills.
Once inside there were two rooms and we had a drink in the bar which was a decent size and comfortable enough, when we visited the pub it was a Whitbread tied house and there was only one real ale on the bar this was Flowers bitter and this was a decent drink.
This was a decent enough pub to start our Portsmouth crawl in, but i have since found out that it was a Portsmouth and southsea crawl.
