Hidden down a narrow lane, you can only guess what this might have been like once as a little country pub, taking a few clues from the much-extended exterior. Inside it has been opened up and refurbished in an unpleasant modern style, although at least various walls and pillars remain so you can find an odd corner. It is heavily geared towards eating but is still popular for drinkers with live music and a quiz night. There is a large tabled patio area outside. A fair ale selection for a Greene King pub though, with Windsor & Eton Knights of the Garter and Hogs Back TEA alongside the IPA and Abbot, and Windsor & Eton Guardsman and Rebellion IPA badged as coming soon. Condition seemed reasonable.

Large foody pub off the main road. Fairly modernized but nicely done. Large dining area to left with two discrete drinking areas. Stripped wood, light shades. Large and pleasant front garden area. Live music advertised. Child friendly. Two sets of three pumps, one set is off to the left so didn't spot until late. Available were W&E Guardsman, WG Grace (a house beer of unknown provenance) and two Truman's, Swift and Runner. My Runner was in excellent shape. A point of amusement was the Hendricks Gin soap dispenser in the gents. I didn’t initially think I’d like this one but I did.
