Dined here twice whilst staying nearby. The first time was a pleasure, the second less so due to a long wait for our main courses, one of which was partly deposited on one of our jackets on arrival. Accidents happen but perhaps a free drink or deduction off the bill would have been nice. That apart, the ale and food are fine and the ambience very pleasant.

A Fuller's pub / hotel, stocking all the usual Fuller's / Gales real ales & kegs, etc. Newly refurbed and thatched
More food orientated than pubby, but it does have a separate bar drinking areas if you fancy a session
On entering via main door from the very large car park, to the left is the drinking bar areas curving away, and to right is food & main seating for dining area, opening onto larger dining area. Finished in faux beam and cottagey style, but not overdone or too corporate feel about it
The service was good, prompt and attentive [it was a Bank Holiday as well], it was around 1.30 on our visit, so the initial crowds had moved on I guess, but it was still very busy but the staff were unhassled. I was so impressed I even left a tip, and that is as rare as white dog poo
Food is good pub stuff, from Fish & chips to steak & ale pie, you know the form, also has kiddie menu + vegetarian options. They try and use local sourced food as well. We both enjoyed our meal & drinks, mine was HSB, other was coffee, which was excellent I am told. It has been marked as a future visit for my daughter who lives nearby
Large outside gardens and ample car park. The hotel bit is 5 star from the signs. I think this would be a good base for exploring New Forest, no idea of costs for rooms here
All in all, a nice pub, worth a visit if in area or the New Forest, Lymington / Hythe ones are topped up
