Originally The Wolston Hotel, and also once The Bridge, the building has now been turned into a rather scabby dive pub at the lower end of the spectrum. The downstairs room shave been knocked into a single large bar with battered furniture, a juke box and a group of loud, drunken louts making it clear that strangers are not welcome in ‘their’ pub. It is long overdue redecorating. There is an equally scabby garden with various covered smoking areas and TV screens to match those inside. No real ale, no real welcome, not at all comfortable or convivial. There is a range of low quality keg and a few bottled offerings, while cheap and nasty cocktails are peddled to those who just want to get wasted. Not worth the bother unless you’re looking to end up on a sticky wicket.

Some people seem to join web sites , only when they have something to complain about !
So I joined to try and balance the books .
Nice pub , decent pint , landlady is friendly and is life and sole , landlord has a very dry wit , if you don't get to know him , you could be mistaken and think he,s a grumpy ol git .
Sky tv , plenties of screens , pool table , darts , karaoke , decent duke box , Friday and Saturday couple nice fellas on the door , so no punch ups! Result .
If you is " on the east side of town" you be hard pushed to find a better local!

Not to confused with 'The Bridge' as this is in Woolston. What can you say about this place! The 'beer festival' that never happens. You'll see a pump clip showing fortyniner but the barmaid will tell you it's not on. Pedigree ..... same answer! Now supposedly it's illegal to advertise wares that are not for sale (by not turning the pump clips around) and she informed me that the company didn't allow them to turn them around when the beer was off. The 2 pumps ARE next to a small blackboard proclaiming "Make Sure It's Cask"! WHY BOTHER!!!!!!. Woolston will never win Hampshire's top town and if you happen to have the misfortune to be there then get out as soon as possible. If you want a pub with loads of 'fizz' beers, TV screens etc. etc. this is the place for you. For reasons of libel I won't comment on the 'infamous' landlady, but you can visit other sites to get a flavour of her style. I don't know who owns this, but do pub chains never read reviews on websites?
