There was previously a bar here with the same name, but that was demolished a couple of years ago and replaced with the current structure, which has taken the same name. It’s a modern marina bar overlooking Swanwick Marina and the River Hamble before it flows under the main road bridge and becomes less navigable. There are outside seats, benches and tables spread over 2 terraces and the marina path, while inside it has more of a bistro feel than a bar. This is further emphasised by signs telling you to wait for table service, which we didn’t. The young staff were mostly pleasant, and the customer base was mainly from the boating community, though there were a few passers-by dropping in while we were there. Two ales on handpump, Perridge Pale Ale, and something called Boathouse Ale, which was of unknown origin. Fine for eating and drinking, especially if you like their extensive (and expensive) range of teas and coffees, but unless you’re coming by boat I wouldn’t make it my first choice.
