Old Boots left this review about The Bridge Tavern

A more down to earth and less touristy pub than others nearby as has been said before.
It’s still got a bit of a multi space vibe but sadly not multi room. Decor is of course naval, being Pompey they have access to cheap grey paint and there’s a bit been splashed about round here, thankfully only on the inside. Upstairs is a dining area and there’s a marquee outside although views are of a working dock and the Isle of Wight ferry dock. The thing that gets you a fine for unlawful pulling is a strange ship’s telegraph, fines go to the RNLI. The L shaped counter has five pulls, all from Asahi; Darkstar Hophead, Gales HSB and Seafarer, London Pride and nothing on the fifth, naturally there’s a low T-bar of standards including a lager from Asahi who of course own Fullers and its brands. Fairly empty on my Thursday night visit but the other punters were, not to put too fine a point on it; well pissed. The sign of a good pub.

The 'other' pub in the spice island end of two, but this one is secreted amongst the moorings and boat stacks rather than the touristy bit. It is however more pub-like than the other two and has a couple of nice traditional rooms with tiled floors and glazed partitions as well as the obligatory mass of tables on the dockside. Another Fullers pub, with various beers from their range. Sadly the eponymous bridge (visible on the sign) has long since disappeared, so access is round through Old Portsmouth.

A pleasant location sandwiched between two small docks, paved outdoor terraces each side being possibly the best choices on a sunny afternoon where an old boat has been parked. Excellent floral displays too, inside there is a generally boarded split level area with some quarry tiling too. some wood panelling and old style leaded windows. Various areas but all are interconnected. Fuller's beers so obviously in the area once a Gale's house, Pride, Seafarers, HSB, Oliver's Island and a Gales badged Redwood, new to me. Expensive, can't remember exactly but £4+. There is an old ship driving thing which makes a bit of a row with a charity charge for messing with it. Not bad but the Spice Island is busy and touristy when the sun is shining so pick your day accordingly.

A nice multi-area’d Fullers place in the Camber docks quayside with nice views (shame it was dark, really). Leaded windows were of note. A nice panelled room off to the right was where we sat. Having had a few by this stage we inevitably noted the old hand-crank ringer bell, so chucked in the 50p for charity and gave it a bit of welly a few times to annoy the other patrons. Noted as dog friendly. Just three ales on from the Fullers stable, Jack Frost (decent nick), Pride and HSB. Expensive in price though. Overall, this is worth a look-in if crawling the vicinity and I imagine it’d be well-worth pitching-up on a sunny summers day. 6.5

A Fullers pub in a decent location, five pumps with four on, Seafarers,Pride, and HSB doubled up.A board on the wall displayed the legend, "Life's to short to drink boring beer", which I found rather amusing and ironic. Not really my kind of place.

A pub set on its own on the quayside amongst car and boat parking. A little bit of a walk from the Harbour station..if only there was a pedestrian bridge to it as that would save quite a bit of time. Usual range of Fullers les, it looks as if the pub has recently been refurbished with a small bit behind the bar being finished off. Very pleasant sitting outside on this warm sunny September day.

Popped on Saturday lunchtime, normal Fuller's offerings on beer. The bar / eating is one large area, subdivided into odds & sods

Large outside area for food & drink, ideal in summer to watch the boats & world go by

The ample parking ETA refers to is large Council car park adjacent, and you have to pay or get a ticket, however good news is the Bridge offers it free for two hours if you spend ten quid or more on food at the Bridge

Have to agree with ETA that a steady & gradual decline over the years is apparent, but still a reasonable place to go, as are Still & West + Spice Island Inn, all in near vicinity

Ideal for access to the fish markets, local fresh fish, which if you live local is ideal to take home, tough luck if from t'north in a B & B for a week

Worth popping in if around the area

The Bridge is a busy Fullers pub near the town centre, a modernised interior in an old building with ample parking, and convenient for boaters. It does food, usually quite good and with some original twists to the menu. Quality has declined over recent years, but it's still a good place to come for a pint and a meal. Staff are friendly and helpful, ambience is calm (well, dull actually) and the clientele are a mixed bunch, but mostly the over-40s. I had a fair pint of London Pride which was well-kept and tasted OK. I'm always happy to come back here at the start of an evening, and I would recommend it for inclusion on a crawl or a quick pint in passing.
