Although in a fairly imposing building, the Bear is squeezed up by the side of the street so does not make the most of its frontage and is quite easily missed. Entering through a coaching arch, the hotel part is beyond but the bar is located in a room on the right, extending through to the adjacent house which has a further entrance. Inside, what is obviously an historic interior with lots of beams and woodwork rather suffers from naff decoration, large screen etc. It does at least have a couple of handpumps and Cask Marque listing and seemed friendly enough.
