This large town pub, currently owned by Enterprise, stands in its own grounds just outside the town centre. The building is grand and has an Edwardian feel to it. Steps lead up from the car park to an impressive entrance behind which is a spacious, carpeted bar with smaller areas demarcated by wooden panels. There are 2 large bay windows to the front, which makes the bar light and airy. There is a pool table at the back, a naffly lit bar in the centre and brown-painted decorative timbers which do a lot to absorb ambient light. The pub is very much a local, supporting local charities and remembering local personalties who have died. The regulars are friendly, the barman chatty and the jukebox just about tolerable. Entertainment comes from dartboards, of which there are many, and pool tables. There were 3 ales on – I had a pint of 'Fareham' which I soon discovered was Tetley's Bitter with a different name. It's a pleasant place to visit, even though the beer isn't that special – I'd be happy to come back and while away a few hours here.

One large knocked through bar, normal pub equipment, fruit machine etc
Hand pulls available, but forgotten what they were, too busy looking at barmaid reaching up to get glass from top shelf
Serves food but not tried it. Pleasant enough pub but not one to seek out for any particular reason that I could see
