Reopened late last year after a long period of closure, not somewhere I'd normally pass by but local road closures put my diversion route from work nearby. A large pub owned by Star (Heineken) so I wasn't expecting much, inside it is divided into three walk through rooms, the main drinking area is central with the bar facing the main door, to the left a large pool room with a couple of tables and to the right is an area with a dart board, Screens showing Sky Sports are throughout, on my visit showing Afcon football muted allowing use of the jukebox with volume at a sensible level. On the bar are four handpumps, on my Friday evening visit three were in use dispensing the expected Doom Bar along with Timothy Taylor Landlord and pleasingly and unexpectedly Tring Side Pocket For A Toad served up in good nick NBSS 3.5 + and even more surprising it was being sold at £3.95, very good for SE England, the keg offerings were mostly mainstream stuff with the craft offering being Beavertown Neck Oil.
The pub exceeded my expectations and the Landlord and Landlady look to be making a go of it, I wish them well.
